So it all adds up to either a sensor fault, or a thermostat fault. Since the above, I cleared the fault and it comes back on occasionally (and sometimes clears itself), but the overall temperature of the car being cold is constant. In-car heaters get to luke-warm at best, nothing to warm you on a cold winter morning!
Ran diagnostic on it and got clutch actuator position sensor fault. At 80000 miles there's no point in changing this part on its own as it is major surgery to remove the gearbox so while its out you'll need to do the clutch and flywheel as well or in a couple of months you'll be taking it all out again.
